First victim of my new blog is my dear friend and Aalto- soprano, the amazing Jessica Muirhead! Lets see how much we can learn about her in 10 questions. 1. Which is your favourite- dying- opera role? J.M.: Violetta in La Traviata! 2. Your favourite cuisine? J.M.: Thai 3. Your funniest moment on stage. J.M.: Last year I sang Pamina in Edmonton, and our dialogue was in english, although we sang in german. Also it should be known I am a bit of a perfectionist and rarely forget my text... So, I ran on stage before my big aria and said "Tamino! I heard the sound of your flute and I swallowed... *big pause* ... Uh... *another big pause*... Followed it's sweet tone"... There were giggles in the audience, but the worst part was when I got backstage and everyone was STILL laughing from it. I guess you had to be there! 4. Which is your favourite soprano/idol? J.M.: Dame Joan Sutherland now and forever! 5. Your favourite aria? J.M.: Mon coeur s´ouvre a ta voix 6. Favourite place on earth J.M.: Istanbul, but particularly the Spice Bazaar! me: No way... me too! 7. Your worst fear? J.M.: Spiders, spiders, spiders. *shiver* 8. Favourite movie genre J.M.: There is nothing like a good chick-flick! One that makes me cry, but has a happy ending, like Pretty Woman! 9. Favourite drink J.M.: Sazerac (the kind made with whisky) me: Classy! 10. Any guilty plesures? J.M.: Watching Netflix in my onesie Make a wish for the future -*sits for a minute and reflects* Ok, done. But I can't tell you, or it won't come true! A big thank you to Jessica Muirhead- the soprano that stole our hearts- for opening this new blog. You can enjoy her in Faust as Marguerite (with me as her Valentin), in Don Giovanni as Donna Anna and in Traviata singing her favourite role Violetta in Aalto Theater Essen and in Wien as Fiordilidgi and in the Soprano-solo of Verdi´s Requiem. http://www.jessicamuirhead.com/
